One last Hurrah...

My Mom called this morning to let me know that my Grandma (Nana) passed away. I had been expecting this call for almost a month now, Nana had been suffering from Alziemers for sometime now. Recently it had gotten pretty bad so it is good to know she is finally at peace.

When someone dies you have such mixed emotions the thing that made me most sad today is the fact that I bet I don't see my cousins again for a long time...Grandparents kinda link that all together... Although we have a funeral to attend I know this weekend is going to still be fun...Remember and reminiscing with everyone is also going to be fun. The last time we were all together at one time was October of 04 when Pap pap ,Nana's husband, passed away. We all we sorta together in Aug when Nana turned 90 but James and Ali could not make it. They are missing from the above picture.

It is also pretty weird to think that this is going to be our last trip to Wheeling...The very last chance to catch the "Wheeling Feeling" I almost feel like the time of yr gives closure..
Christmas is Wheeling best side and the lights at Oglebay are the tops. It has been forever since we have all gone to see the light festival together. Maybe we can even hit the Wheeling Island race track once more, that would be fun...

All the great memories we have to look back on, It makes me smile...

I'll sure miss Nana and everything about having grandparents. How blessed I was by all of them...

I am sorry for you and your family's loss. It is so true about all of the mixed emotions that one goes through when they lose a loved one, you just have to hold on to all of those wonderful memories cause they will make you smile.

Sorry to hear about Nana Lisa.
I know you just mentioned her last week. You can never be prepared no matter how prepared you think you are. Alzhiemer's is a rotten thing to live with for everyone involved. I know first hand.
It is nice to think that she is now experiencing peace.
Have a good time with your family. Hopefully this won't be the end of get togethers.
Hugs, Heather

Lisa I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I am glad you have wonderful memories to get you through. Alzheimer's is an awful disease. I used to work on an alzhiemer's unit. People do not realize how it not only robs you mentally, but physically. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Lisa, I am very sorry about this passing. I can very much relate to your feelings and concerns that as our most cherished loved ones pass on, the family structure often changes. But that also means that our own families are growing and someday we will be the 'nanas' and the ones linking an extended family together and that is a wonderful legacy to look forward to.

Lisa, I am so sorry for your loss. It sure hurts. My heart is aching right now as well. My Grandma passed away yesterday morning. I was actually coming to sit down to work on her Eulogy when I checked in with all my favorite kids. It amazes me sometimes how parallel our lives are. Thinking of you and wishing you strength.

So sorry to hear about your grandmother. It's amazing how grandparents touch and mold our lives. And how right you are that the communication and get togethers change once the grandparents are gone.......hang in there and know we are thinking of you and praying for you.

Thinking of you Lisa. I am sorry for your loss. I hope that the funeral and the gathering after are a true rememberance of your Nana. I'm sure she would just love that all of her family is together.

I'm so sorry about Nana. Alzheimers is so cruel. You are so right about how your perception of family changes after a death. Everything changes, like it or not. Thank goodness for your beautiful memories. Trust me, they become even more important as you grow older. Hold on to them tightly, and always share them with your girls. They will treasure them just as you do.

Big hugs to you from me and Dominick<3
